Sorority Recruitment

Sorority Recruitment is one of the most exciting times of the year for sororities and for PNMs, also known as Potential New Members. As a freshman, I didn’t exactly know what to expect, but now that we’re finished with our first weekend of it I can honestly say it’s been amazing. I won’t lie to you and tell you it’s not tiring. The whole process is entirely worth losing your voice, being tired, and all the running around that goes with it. Recruitment not only helps you to become acquainted with the sororities, but it helps you become closer with your friends, meet new people, and become familiar with the buildings and residence halls on campus.

About 25% of Miami students are Greek, which means many students choose not to be involved in Greek life.  Regardless of whether or not you want to be in a sorority or fraternity, I encourage you to go through recruitment just for the fun of it. The entire process will teach you so much about yourself and about the types of people you may want to become involved in. You may even find a new best friend or an entire group of sisters at the end of the week. My best advice is to not give up even when it gets rough. Don’t throw in the towel just because you may not have been called back to a sorority that you had wanted. As everyone says: “Trust the process!”
